Volunteering

for Volunteers

This section of our site aims to give people who are thinking about participating in voluntary work some ideas of what they should expect.

‘43% of adults in Scotland have volunteered formally in the past year (2005). This equates to around 1.7 million’

There is no doubt volunteering works, if it didn’t the numbers participating wouldn’t be so high!

If you’ve decided to become a volunteer, you will have your own reasons. The information on this site is to help guide you in the right direction. You are a valuable resource and it is important that the organisation with which you work recognises this.

for Organisations

Many organisations rely on volunteers to support the services they provide, and in some cases without volunteers there would be no service! It is therefore in the best interests of both organisation and volunteer to develop a mutually beneficial relationship. Ideally the information contained on these pages will support this process.

All organisations work differently and have different needs of their volunteer workers. If your organisation needs support or advice in developing good practice guidelines / training packages or adjusting or improving those procedures you already have in place, please contact me at the address below.
