In Fife The Twilight Walk was very successful with 365 registrations! The committee and Maggie’s is delighted so many people support this great local event a big thank you to everyone involved.
It has been very busy at Maggie’s Fife too, I am delighted to let you all know that Linda Watson has now joined the team as another Cancer support Specialist due to the increase in visits to the centre this year.
Maggie’s also held a hair Style Evening hosted by local hairdresser and owner of Byron Hairdressing Ronnie Marshall. Loosing your hair requires a considerable degree of adjustment, as this is often the time when it is very visible to the person themselves and those around them that they have a cancer diagnosis. Understandably it is an emotional and anxiety provoking situation, which can lead to social withdrawal, loss of confidence and identity. This practical sessions gave attendees different ideas on how to style their wigs or using different head wear to boost their confident. Here are some comments from people who went along:
“I will be more adventurous and try out some styles of headwear”
“Brilliant - very informative”
“Now more confident in how I look”
As you can read your support makes a huge difference to those who visit Maggie’s. Below is our current events listing, any support you can offer will be a big help. The Great North Run in particular is closing entry this Friday. Maggie’s still have places on this and are offering them for two entries for the price of 1 (£50). The actual run isn’t until September so there is plenty of time to fundraise. I hope you find something you are interested in.
