Signing of Voluntary Sector Training Partnership Agreement

Over the past couple of months, Sandra Bruce and Ian Cowie from CVS Fife have been working with colleagues from Adam Smith College and Volunteer Centre Fife in pulling together the new Training Programme for those working and involved in Fife’s Voluntary Sector.

The new Training Programme is part of an exciting Skills For Scotland European funded programme which is designed to include accreditation for much of the training accessed by Fife’s Voluntary Sector. The new accredited courses will benefit both the individuals accessing training and the Voluntary Organisations those individuals work for.

The programme is now virtually complete and will be published and distributed towards the end of September.

At a formal signing ceremony on Friday 5th September, at CVS Fife’s Buckhaven Office, a three way Partnership Agreement involving CVS Fife, Volunteer Centre Fife and Adam Smith College was signed off by Robert Bell, Chair of CVS Fife, Roger Coates, Chair of Volunteer Centre Fife and Prime Minister Gordon Brown, in his capacity as Chancellor of Adam Smith College.

CVS Fife was delighted to host such an event and we are all looking forward to the new programme getting underway.

Scottish Education and Action for Development (SEAD)

Description

SWITCH ON TO CLIMATE CHANGE

Would you like a way of getting active on climate issues in your own neighbourhood? The opportunity might be closer than you think.

SEAD (Scottish Education and Action for Development) has launched a new project which is helping people all over Scotland to find their own approaches to tackling the problem of climate change. Whether you're interested in ways of making a difference as in individual, as part of a community group, or at the national or international level, Switch On to Climate Change offers resources to help make it easier.

Among the opportunities provided are workshops on climate change and community action, useful information, support and links with other groups to help people find the approach which suits them best. SEAD is gathering case studies of positive action in Scotland and around the world, showing the kinds of things we can do collectively to make a difference. If you're interested, or you can think of a group which might be keen to host a workshop exploring community-based climate action then do get in touch. You can find out more, and download SEAD's handy booklet, "Rising to the Climate Challenge" from the SEAD website below.
