The voluntary sector in Fife is one of the key providers of health care and support in Fife. From mental health organisations to those providing support to people with profound physical needs and from residential housing to substance abuse agencies, the voluntary sector in Fife provides a very wide and diverse service to some of the areas most vulnerable people.

CVS Fife provides a wide range of support services to these organisations including the facilitation and support of voluntary sector representation in health planning in Fife, involving the voluntary sector in wider health strategies in Fife and providing voluntary sector organisations with information about new developments, national policies and local issues.

CVS Fife helps health organisations in the voluntary sector meet, network, share issues and feed into various statutory sector planning initiatives through three area based Health & Wellbeing Forums.

CVS Fife also represents the interests of the voluntary sector on the Health & Wellbeing Alliance which is a Community Planning body tasked with taking forward the health and wellbeing activities of the community plan.

NHS Fife is the local health service body and is split into four divisions. The Acute Division that is responsible for all A&E and the three Acute hospitals, Victoria and Forth Park hospitals in Kirkcaldy and Queen Margaret in Dunfermline. There are then three Community Health Partnerships (CHPs) covering the Dunfermline & West Fife, Kirkcaldy & Levenmouth and Glenrothes & North East Fife areas.

Each CHP Committee has a space for a voluntary sector representative. More information about your CHP representatives and their activities can be found on the Health & Wellbeing Forum and the CHPs pages.

As well as local activities, CVS Fife works with national bodies on health issues. Organisations such as Voluntary Health Scotland work with our CHP representatives, keeping them informed about national issues.

Other health policy issues affecting the voluntary sector often come from the Scottish Executive and Scottish Parliament.
