CVS Fife is an umbrella organisation covering the whole of Fife.

CVS Fife is a member of The CVS Network (Councils for Voluntary Service), which consists of 56 independent organisations that provide a range of development and support services to voluntary organisations across Scotland. CVS activity is supported by the Scottish Government and local authorities, as well as by trading income and funding from a wide range of sources. The CVS Network comes under the umbrella of Voluntary Action Scotland.

The Voluntary or Third Sector provides services and activities to some of the most vulnerable people in society including:

• unemployed people
• those living in poverty
• people with mental and physical disabilities
• people from minority ethnic communities
• carers
• people with addiction issues
• the homeless and poorly housed
• elderly people

There are over 1200 voluntary organisations in Fife ranging from small purely voluntary groups to Fife-wide organisations helping disadvantaged groups and individuals who employ staff and manage large budgets. Our Directory of Organisations lists organisations by category of activity and geographical activity.

We promote the role of the Voluntary or Third Sector and support its activities in Fife through direct provision of support services and through advocating on behalf of the sector in partnership settings.

CVS Fife works with a range of partners, to assist Fife's voluntary sector to:

• Deliver quality services
• Build strong networks and alliances
• Develop new ways of providing services which respond to identified need.
• Become sustainable organisations.

We encourage and support the establishment of effective voluntary sector networks to:

• Exchange information
• Identify common need
• Develop services to meet need
• Highlight issues of common concern
• Pursue joint funding opportunities
• Ensure the voluntary sector is effectively represented within the Community Planning Partnership (CPP)

We have links with partners in the statutory sector to promote and strengthen the role of the voluntary sector, at all levels in Fife. We do this by:

• Consulting within the voluntary sector to ensure we represent your views
• Represent the voluntary sector in multi-agency networks
• Support the involvement of voluntary organisations in multi agency
• networks and projects
