Applicant Criteria

Projects in the UK.

Applications are accepted from the voluntary and community sector throughout the UK including: constituted voluntary and community groups, charities, social enterprises, co-operatives, faith organisations, and community interest companies. Applications will be considered from registered charities and voluntary organisations with charitable purposes.

International Grants

Grants are made to UK-registered charities (including charities registered in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man) whose main aim is development and who work closely with local organisations. In exceptional circumstances consideration will be given to applications from other types of organisations. We fund all sizes of UK-registered charities. We also welcome applications that come from groups of UK-registered charities that can show how working together will improve the effectiveness of their work.

For work in Africa or the other countries, we will only consider applications from UK registered charities that are working in partnership with agencies located in the relevant country.

    Criteria for International Grants

To be as effective as possible, we have focused our grant making into six ‘open’ grants programmes which any UK-registered charity can apply for. Your application needs to show how your work fits one of the programme strategies and all our grant-making principles.
