Applicant Criteria

The Big Lottery Fund has recently launched its Investment Manifesto in Scotland. The fund wants to use an investment model to strengthen communities- of geography, need and interest.

Funding Criteria

Funding will be distributed under four investment areas, as follows:

  • Investing in Ideas
  • Growing Community Assests
  • Life Transitions
  • Building Dynamic Inclusive Communities

There will also be an additional programme called Investing in Supporting 21st Century Life, which will look at big projects with national impact.

Amounts Awarded

The Investing in Ideas programme will distribute small amounts of up to £5,000, to allow communities to carry out research, feasibility studies, get professional advice and run consultative events. The other programmes have each been given a minimum guaranteed investment, but this will be flexible according to demand, so funding limits have not been set.

Clasing Dates

The new manifesto will direct funding for the next three years. The Investing in Ideas fund is due to open for applications by the end of January/beginning of February 2006, and the other funds are due to open around May 2006
