Course Aims:

At the end of this course, you will have had the opportunity to cover knowledge and understanding elements which will both inform your management practice and provide you with the basis for assessment against the management standards.

Learning Outcomes/What you will learn:

The main models and methods for leading organisational change, and their strengths and weaknesses;
The relationship between transformational and transactional change;
Theory and application of the change/performance curve;
Different leadership styles and behaviours, their strengths and how to use the appropriate style for different circumstances;
How to make critical decisions;
The political, bureaucratic and resource barriers to change, and the techniques for dealing with these;
Different methods of communication and their relevant strengths and weaknesses in various circumstances
The main techniques for solving problems and how to apply them;
Stakeholder expectations and how they influence the change process.

There is no formal assessment of this programme on the day; however, opportunities for reflection and discussion which will be part of the programme can be used to develop knowledge and understanding statements.

Who should attend:

Those who specifically wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of this subject; middle managers with a wide remit and span of control (Level 4); senior managers with responsibility for substantial resources and who may be able to contribute to the strategic development of the organisation (Level 5).

Course Accreditation/Award:

Working towards completion of the unit ‘‘Lead Change’’ SVQ Levels 3/4/5 in Management.

This programme can stand alone as part of an individual’s professional development; it forms part of 'Lead Change' which is one of the optional Units at levels 4 and 5.
