About OSCR
The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator's website (www.oscr.org.uk) is a useful source of information for any organisation hoping to become more familiar with the new legislation. As well as a Guidance section covering topics such as Meeting the Charity Test and Trustee Duties, OSCR also publishes a quarterly e-newsletter as well as ad-hoc information alerts to keep you up to date on important issues as they happen. The website's Frequently Asked Questions document is also a useful tool which may help answer a variety of simple questions without the need to contact OSCR itself.
In addition to the support documents, OSCR's website also holds information on the various consultations the agency has conducted since it was established. Interested parties can take part in open consultations online or view the results of consultation exercises conducted in the past.
Another important feature of OSCR's website are the details of those charities who have been removed from the Scottish Charity Register. In the main, charities currently being removed from the register are those who failed to complete the 2005 Annual Return pilot and with whom OSCR has been unable to establish any contact. Charities featuring on these lists have 21 days from the date of publication to contest the decision for removal.
If you have any additional queries not answered by the guidance published on the website, staff at OSCR can also be contacted by email info@oscr.org.uk or on 01382 220446.
